Après la second Guerre Mondiale, le constructeur italien sort de la production artisanale qui prévalait depuis ses débuts pour aller vers la production de masse. Ce changement est matérialisé par le lancement de la routière 1900 en 1950 et surtout par celui de la Giulietta en 1954. Alfa Romeo inaugure son usine d’Arese, près de Milan, en 1963.
