Resulting from an election commitment by Mayor of London Boris Johnson, the New Bus for London was the first double-deck bus to be purpose designed to operate in London for two generations.

Now officially known as the New Routemaster, the type first entered public service in February 2012 and, since then, a number of routes have been converted to operate with the new bus.

With 600 of the type either delivered or on order, the bus is destined to become a familiar sight on London's streets for many years to come.
